Michael Mathern is a Berklee College of Music trained Guitarist and Songwriter from Boulder, Colorado.  He is a founding member of the Alternative Rock Band "For You" featuring Ed Westwick of HBO's hit series Gossip Girl as the lead singer.  Their first album was released through Universal Music Group in 2025 and have since toured through Norway with plans for a brief American Midwest tour this summer.

During a 5 year stint in Los Angeles, Michael had the opportunity to play, record, and learn from GRAMMY award winning musicians and producers such as Larry King (Soleil Moon), Francesco Cameli (Sphere Studios), Craig Bauer (Hinge Studios), Leland Sklar (Bass), Vinnie Colaiuta (Drums), and more.  

Michael has been teaching lessons through Guitar Boulder for the past 2 years, and is now accepting new private lesson students near Lafayette, CO to share his knowledge and experience with and to help ignite the passion for music in others that drives him!
